Board of Directors Overview
An elected board of directors will carry out everyday club operations following the articles of incorporation, the constitution and by-laws and these operating guidelines.
The Elected Board and Committees
In accordance with the constitution and by-laws, terms of office are for one year. Each board member may run for another term. However, the general membership may hold special elections to remove a board member. The following are the overall responsibilities of the elected and appointed leadership of the PWRC.
- Act in a responsible manner to ensure decisions are fair and equitable by taking into account the best interest of the club, its membership and the sport of rowing
- Foster ownership by all club members by ensuring their involvement in the operation of the club, i.e. committees and decision making
- Address rowers concerns in a timely manner
- Ensure operating procedures are applied to all members to promote the PWRC as club and team sport.
- Address conflict of interest issues immediately
- Ensure free flow of communication to keep everyone informed
Elections
Elections for the board of directors will be held no later than the 15th of November of each calendar year. The election committee will be responsible for the solicitation of nominees, preparation, distribution and tallying of the ballots for each election, including absentee ballots. The board of directors will be elected for a period of 12 months, from January 1 through December 31. This will give the current board time to close out old business and pass on information and records to the new board at the end of each calendar year.
